Music enhances any atmosphere.  I didn’t used to have playlists, but now I have one for every occasion.  When I’m exercising.  When I need to concentrate.  When I need to motivate.  Karaoke. Wedding.  When I want to cry.  I even have playlists about weather or playlists that feature names – Irene, Gus, Ophelia.  Holiday playlists.  Playlists for different genres of music.  Make a playlist about a place – home, a city, a vacation.  I even had a playlist for my road trip.  You know where a great place is to discover new music – TV and Movies.  They have amazing writers, and they know how to incorporate the new with the old – to set the mood.  I have discovered some of my favorite songs this way.  I’m constantly pausing or reading the credits.  So, make somebody a playlist.  You can either ‘share’ one with them, or you can put it on a thumb drive or CD…if you want to give something tangible.  Here’s another tip.  Music can be a valuable tool for somebody with a brain injury.  It can help with communication and cognition.  If nothing else, it just makes somebody smile and feel good for a little while.
